I have been hearing a lot of good about coconut oil recently. Does it possibly contain omega 3 fatty acids that have also been found to be so good for our over all health?
It is true that Coconut oil is a great nutritional food source. It helps the body produce energy and not fat. The coconut oil contains medium chain fatty acids. This type of fatty acids are easy to digest and helps to strengthen the immune system. However it does not contain the omega 3 fatty acids.
Omega 3 is great for it’s benefits to your heart. You can get omega 3 by eating salmon, light tuna in the can two times a week. Eating fish is a good way of eating healthy. Eating Atlantic Cod or Pacific Cod , which are very good tasting fish, are also a good source of omega 3. If you are concerned about mercury in fish, other ways you can get omega 3 is by eating walnuts, sunflower seeds and many other items. The only problem is eating enough of the items to make a difference.
Are you concerned with developing osteoporosis? Getting enough omega 3 in your diet may help prevent this disease from developing. If you have a family history of osteoporosis, you may want to be sure to start taking adequate amounts of omega 3 to prevent it. Getting enough omega 3 by trying to eat enough weekly may or may not end up being enough. To insure you obtain enough, which we are now being told to take 3 grams a day, is to take it in the form of gel tabs. The gel tabs I take are 1 gram each. I am suppose to take one before meals 3 times a day. This way I know I am getting the right amount of omega 3 daily and will hopefully prevent many diseases from taking over my body as I age.
Even though coconut oil does not contain omega 3, it is still good to also use daily in your diet. Together with omega 3, it could help you lead a much healthier life.
